Evan Simko-Bednarski

About the Author

Evan Simko-Bednarski is a reporter with a focus on international issues and the war in Ukraine. He also broke the story of “Saturday Night Live” stars Pete Davidson and Colin Jost buying a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry. Prior to joining The Post, Evan was an associate producer at CNN, where he covered the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ohio State University wrestling team sex-abuse scandal, and was in the field for Hurricane Florence. As a reporter on the schools beat at the Stamford Advocate in Connecticut, Evan led an investigation of the local school district's cover-up of sexual abuse complaints -- work that won him two awards from the Connecticut chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and led to the passage of multiple laws meant to increase the transparency of educators' disciplinary records. Evan graduated with honors from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, and has degrees from Wesleyan University in Philosophy and Government. Evan started his career at the bi-weekly Battery Park City Broadsheet in Lower Manhattan. Born and raised in Hudson County, New Jersey, Evan is also a photographer and a hobbyist mechanic.
