Rep. Boebert’s husband sicced dogs on worker who served divorce papers: claim

Rep. Lauren Boebert’s husband was caught off guard by her decision to file for divorce last month, court documents reveal — and was so irate that he allegedly set his dogs on the official who served him the papers.

Boebert (R-Colo.), 36, announced on Tuesday that she was divorcing her husband of 18 years, Jayson, due to “irreconcilable differences.”

In an affidavit obtained by The Post Wednesday, a process server claimed that Jayson Boebert became “extremely angry” when he realized he was being served with “dissolution of marriage” papers after the official filing on April 25.

“He started yelling and using profanities, and told me that I was trespassing, and that he was calling the Sheriff’s Office. I told him I was leaving the documents on the chair outside of the door, he closed the door then let the dogs out,” the server wrote.

The affidavit alleged that Jayson was “drinking a tall glass of beer, and cleaning a gun that was sitting on a table” when the process server showed up.

But Boebert denied the allegations against her soon-to-be ex-husband in a Twitter post Wednesday, stating that Jayson “did not sign up to be in the public limelight, and he certainly did not agree to be falsely accused of things he didn’t do.”

“The stories reported about the process server … are a complete lie,” she said. “Jayson doesn’t sit around cleaning guns and he certainly doesn’t drink beer out of a glass, just as much as he doesn’t drink Bud Light.”

She also claimed that footage from her home security camera “shows he didn’t ‘sick dogs’ on the process server.”

“The dogs were outside when the server pulled up, they never showed aggression toward him, nor did he appear afraid of them,” Boebert wrote. “Our divorce is a private matter, but the misrepresentations must be addressed. Jayson deserves his privacy, not slanderous stories.

In a texted statement to the Daily Beast, which first reported on the affidavit, Jayson also maintained that his dogs were “no threat,” and said he was simply “upset” by the unexpected visit.

“I did not know what I was being served for or if it was some crazy left-wing person coming to my house again. I was not drinking and I was not cleaning any gun,” he insisted.

“The divorce is sad, I did not expect this, I love her with every bit of my heart, she has been my soul mate and she is the mother of my Children,” he added.

In her 2022 memoir “My American Life,” Boebert recalled meeting Jayson — with whom she shares four sons — at a Burger King where she worked at age 16.

She was forced to drop out of high school when she became pregnant with the couple’s first son during her senior year, though she received a GED before being elected to Congress in 2020.

Throughout her brief political career, the gun-slinging conservative firebrand has repeatedly touted family values.

“I have always spoken highly of my marriage,” Boebert said in her tweet. “I believe in marriage. I believe in the power our words hold.”

When she announced in March that her 17-year-old son was about to become a father, the self-proclaimed born-again Christian heaped bizarre praise on areas with higher rates of teen parenthood.

“There’s something special about rural conservative communities,” she said.

“They value life. Teen moms’ rates are higher in rural conservative areas because they understand the preciousness of a life that it’s about to be born.”

Boebert and Jayson have had several brushes with the law during their nearly two decades together.

In January 2004, less than a year after the couple met, Jayson was arrested for allegedly exposing himself to a young woman at a bowling alley.

He served four days behind bars after pleading guilty to public indecency and lewd exposure.

Later that year, Boebert and Jayson were arrested for separate incidents of domestic violence.

More recently, in August 2022 the couple’s neighbors called the police to report that Jayson was running over their mailbox and threatening them.

“I’m sure he’s loaded to the hilt. Do you know who his wife is? Lauren Boebert. She’s loaded. They all have guns,” the frantic caller told the dispatcher.

Boebert also denied those allegations Wednesday, insisting that “Jayson running over a mailbox [is] a complete lie.”

Everything to know about Rep. Lauren Boebert's divorce saga

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert filed for a divorce from her husband in May, leading the congresswoman to re-enter the dating scene.

In September, Boebert and her date, Aspen bar co-owner Quinn Gallagher, were booted from the family performance of “Beetlejuice” at Denver’s Buell Theater after she blew a plume of vape smoke into the air — but footage also showed the mom of four groping his crotch mid-show.

Following the debacle, the congresswoman blamed her behavior on her “public and difficult divorce” and later announced that “all future date nights have been canceled” between her and the bar owner.

Her now-estranged husband of 18 years, Jayson, took “full responsibility” for “the breakdown of our marriage.”

“I am appreciative to hear of Jayson’s sincere comments. This is a new season for us both grace and prayers for our family are welcomed by all,” the Republican firebrand said to the Daily Beast.

“Despite what others may say, I welcome your thoughts, and fervent, heartfelt prayers for our family,” Boebert added.

Despite the pair’s apparently contentious bond, Boebert said in her official statement on Tuesday that she approached the separation with “a heavy heart.”

“I’ve always been faithful in my marriage, and I believe strongly in marriage, which makes this announcement that much more difficult,” she said.

Boebert is not the only Republican rabble-rouser whose marriage seems to have broken down under the political spotlight: Her one-time ally, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), announced last fall that she and her husband were also divorcing.

“Marriage is a wonderful thing and I’m a firm believer in it,” Greene told The Post at the time. “Our society is formed by a husband and wife creating a family to nurture and protect.”

“There’s something special about rural conservative communities,” she said.
